The trial level court of Nova Scotia decided today that the Nova Scotia Barristers Society did not have the authority to decide that graduates of TWU would not be licensed to practise in Nova Scotia. The Barristers Society rejected TWU's application to have its graduate be eligible to practise in Nova Scotia because TWU requires its students to sign a discriminatory covenant that they will not have sex except if they are in a HETEROSEXUAL marriage. This is the first court decision of the several that are pending country-wide. It is almost certainly going to be appealed. A summary of the decision is here. |
